Size Matters

Large organizations vs. Small organizations

Corner Coffee or Starbucks? Wall of Books or Amazon? That’s the difference between small and midsize business (SMB) and large enterprise (LE). More specifically, it’s defined by the number of employees though there are various categorizations that exist.

What’s it like being an employee at one of these companies? What’s it like being a manager? Glad you asked.

Things to consider before choosing one or the other:

  1. Does brand matter to you? Your resume?

  2. Do you want to do your job and not care about being seen?

  3. How do you feel about having to be in the weeds and take on more responsibility?

  4. Is it more important to have a higher salary and less benefits or lower salary and more benefits?

  5. How much flexibility would you like to have in your day?

Different personalities and generations want different things from an organization. It’s also possible you might start at a larger organization where there are more opportunities for support and learning and then transition to a smaller organization after a few years to put everything you learned to use. There is no one size fits all answer. If you want to talk about it before making a decision schedule a call.
