Play the Long Game

Tonya really has a hard time with patience. She’s used to a fast paced environment and getting results quickly.

There is something to be said for speed, but consistency and accuracy are also important. In order to build a lasting relationship or a product that people can trust, you have to show up repeatedly over time.

**Imagine someone has been in a bad relationship and are afraid to start dating again because they don’t want to be hurt. How do you convince them you won’t do the same thing?

  1. Tell Them. Constant reassurance regarding why this is different.

  2. Show Them. Hold their hand. Ask them questions about themselves. Actually treat them better.

  3. Acknowledge the Imperfections. Nothing is ever perfect, but acknowledging the imperfections and being honest about the situation helps to avoid risk and understand how to move forward.

Think of a brand that you trust. Why do you trust them?

When you play the long game, it will pay off. Your customers will be more loyal and they’ll come to you when they need help. Be the company, leader, team member that would make someone want to date you forever, not just a one night stand.
